STRONGER THAN DEATH

I designed a book jacket for ‘Stronger Than Death’ by Francesca Bratton. The book explores the life of poet Hart Crane who lived his last year in Mexico. I used paper collage to develop floral patterns. I wanted to capture the vibrant colours of the Mexican walls and tiles. The flowers connect to the Mexican pink daises, nasturtiums and dahlias, growing in the poet’s garden which are referenced throughout.

GIRL, WOMAN, OTHER

In 2021 I entered the Penguin book competition with this book spread I produced in response to the text Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo. I wanted to explore illustrating people more as at this point this wasn’t an area I was used to drawing and experimenting with colour palettes and textures
