MISCELLANEOUS TREASURES.

I never considered myself a collector till looking at the sheer array of possessions I own that don’t serve me in any way except enjoying their presence. This large-scale print documents 52 items I own that can be found on different shelves in my bedside unit with each having their own number representing where they can be found. The key at the bottom of the post displayed the names of each object corresponding to their number inspired by how museums organise their collections.

MINIATURE GUIDEBOOKS

Similar to how you can buy a guidebook for a museum exhibition, I made these tiny books containing each object, their name and their story. There are three concertina books, each representing a shelf in a unit. The covers are book cloth covered boards with a printed belly band to keep them together.

THE COLLECTION’S STORY

I created this poster as a deconstructed version of my miniature guidebooks. Each item is in a box alongside its name, number and story. I also included a quote from Carrie Patterson in the bottom right explaining why people collect and why we value our possessions so much.

These pieces are other illustrations I created as part of my collections project.
